I am a complete day 1 beginner. Been practicing and watching videos and learning for about a month now. Decided to restring my very basic donner electric guitar, and I was actually surprised at how big of a difference it made. I didn’t think string composition could make for such a noticeable difference. These strings just feel nicer in every way compared to the stock strings my guitar came with. These are soooo smooth and slick that you can slide up and down the fretboard with considerably less effort. I didn’t think just changing the strings could actually improve my skills instantly but that’s exactly what happened. I find myself able to move around the fretboard much faster and more accurately now because of how nice these strings feel. My speed on the spider exercise improved immediately after trying these out for the first time. I was able to do the exercises much faster with these strings. I am a believer now.

I’m a Vox guy. And I use maple necks with maple fretboards and alder/mahogany bodies. And I use the amazing mullard reissue tube for everything but input where the JJ ECC803S is the best 12ax7 slot preamp tube ever. But I’ll only use one on one channel. I’m still using the mullard 12ax7 reissues.
WHY?
All long plate. More chime. More compression. But that’s a lot of bright stacked. If I use “Rock and roll” pure nickel strings, that crosses the bright line. And to my ears they simply don’t sound as good as the Regular Slinkies. I like them with marshall amps for a little more bright. But I mean, I can get a little more with a tube swap and just use the Regular Slinkies I love to death.
I swear, they get better the older they are. I let sets of regular slinkies age on my P90 guitars especially. It’s like they mature and you get more pinch harmonics.

My 2004 Fender Squire Bullet Special needed a new set of strings, so I got these amazing strings! I play traditional and alternative heavy metal and Shoegaze. I’m telling you, I got this amazing deep and warm tone perfect for that dreamy Shoegaze sound. I highly recommend these strings and I gave an honest 4-star review.

I got the beefy slinky thinking they would be great on a jazzmaster or similarly bright surfy single coils, but the extra thick low strings actually muddied the sound. Where I had excellent note definition and balanced chords, it just all disappeared. These might be good for humbuckers, but I haven’t tried that combination yet. However, I still gave 4 stars because they’re quality strings and I have other sets that are great. Plus, your mileage may vary and you might want a darker muddier sound from your single coils. Just wasn’t what I was after.

I started using this particular set over 20 years ago (I’ve been playing over 45 yrs) and I’ve tried different brands of the same configuration, but they aren’t necessarily better and can cost more. Ernie Ball has been making top-quality guitar strings for many years and the product is consistent.

I generally play the Ernie Ball “11s” (Power slinky?) but liked the idea of getting a little more bend on my high strings without dropping all the way down to 10s. These really nail it! My new go-to set.

They are so easy to fret cause they are thin. They even clean up easy. You have to be careful sometimes they can pop while stringing; they are little guys. If you don’t like heavy strings, these are not. You can bend for days pretty easy. Just try em, they take some getting used to because if you don’t have a light touch you can start to hear your fretted notes pitch up. Thanks for reading and God bless. -pc

I have tried lots of strings over the years on my SG. These sound good and are priced decently. Whether I use 9s 10s they are good.

These are the perfect strings for my situation. I run these in a custom strat with a 27” baritone neck in drop A#. The tension is great, and they sound fantastic.

If you’re looking for a chunky hard rock to metal sound but still want bendability for leads, these are great strings for that.
