Sesame Ginger Baked Chicken Wings
Ingredients:
For the Chicken Wings:
- 2 pounds chicken wings, split at joints, tips discarded
- 2 tablespoons sesame oil
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (for garnish)
- Fresh cilantro, chopped (for garnish)
For the Sesame Ginger Marinade:
- 1/4 cup soy sauce (or tamari for a gluten-free option)
- 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons honey (or a keto-friendly sweetener for a low-carb option)
- 1 tablespoon Sriracha sauce (adjust to taste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame seeds (optional)
Instructions:
Marinate the Chicken Wings:
- Prepare Marinade:
- In a bowl, whisk together soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, grated ginger, minced garlic, honey, Sriracha sauce, and sesame seeds (if using).
- Marinate Wings:
- Place the chicken wings in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the wings, ensuring they are well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or preferably overnight for more flavor.
Bake the Chicken Wings:
- Preheat Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare Baking Sheet:
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy cleanup.
- Remove Wings from Marinade:
- Take the marinated chicken wings out of the refrigerator and let them come to room temperature for about 15 minutes. Remove the wings from the marinade, allowing excess to drip off.
- Brush with Sesame Oil:
- Brush the wings with sesame oil and season with salt and black pepper.
- Bake:
- Place the wings on the prepared baking sheet in a single layer. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the wings are golden brown and crispy. Flip the wings halfway through the baking time for even cooking.
Garnish and Serve:
- Garnish:
- Once baked, transfer the wings to a serving platter. Sprinkle with sesame seeds and chopped fresh cilantro for garnish.
- Serve Hot:
- Serve the Sesame Ginger Baked Chicken Wings hot, and enjoy them as a tasty appetizer or a flavorful main dish.
Notes:
- Sesame Seeds: Toast the sesame seeds in a dry skillet over medium heat for a couple of minutes until they become golden brown for added flavor.
- Serving Suggestions: Pair the wings with a side of rice, a fresh salad, or your favorite dipping sauce.
